The Origin option is only available during the Shape Under Cursor placement method. By default, the placement point of the viewport is located in the center of the shape. Selecting the plus sign moves the placement point from the center to the upper left vertex of the shape. Selecting the plus sign again, will move the origin counter-clockwise through each vertex on the shape. Selecting the minus sign moves the origin in the opposite direction.
